Inappropriate-isms

I'm never ceasing to be amazed at some of the things people say when they see me. Last night I went out to an art opening where I was pretty sure I'd see some familiar faces. I saw several people who I used to go to school with when I was unceremoniously diagnosed and hauled off to a new life in the hospital.

I really enjoyed my evening. One of my finer moments last night when I saw, Mr. Inappropriate. Mr. Inappropriate always came off as a somewhat normal person before my cancer BS but every time I've seen him since , he never fails to say exactly the wrong thing. One memorable moment was when I was on a lot of drugs including prednisone and my face was round like a basketball. He said, "Wow, your face is really puffy. Do you even recognize yourself when you look in the mirror every morning?" Thanks for your observation, Mr. Obvious.

Last night;

Mr. Inappropriate: "Wow, you're not dead. You look good...
and you're not dead!"

Me: "Yes, I'm most definitely not dead".

During these pleasantries I bit my lip and tried my best to not let on how highly entertained I was. Unfortunately I would have been laughing at him, not with him and that's just rude.

Good grief! What a buffoon.

It's a good thing he doesn't know about your vagina issues. Hard to imagine what he'd blurt out about that.

OMG! That would be, too hilarious. I wonder if I should let it slip?

When I meet my own Mr. Inappropriates in life, I like to blurt out things to make them uncomfortable... "I had menopause!" "I was almost bald" "I almost died, what's new with you?"

Ha ha, it just makes the look on their faces so much more priceless.

Hope you're well!

Lobus frontalis!
His frontal lobe is not working properly.
This shows that even in so-called "intellectual circles" People with intellectual disabilities are involved.

You should be rude to him. Despite his disability, he deserves it.

I'd have bit back with something really quick to bring him down a peg or 2.. My Mr Inappropriate saw me when i wore my maroon spiky wig during chemo. He was a dj in a bar and proudly announced on the mike that i had obviously upset my hairdresser at some point as i had gorgeous long hair when he saw me last.
I went up to him, flipped up the sides of my wig and produced my bald head and said to him " Yup mate and now i have cancer" His face was a picture, he couldn't do his jokey djing anymore that night

What a moron!!!! No you aren't dead. When someone makes a stupid comment I never have a comeback ready - like when my sister says to me 'is that your hair?' Two hours later I am ready to say something back.

Maybe I should have said,

Mr.I "You're not dead!"

Me "No. why? Were you trying to have me killed?"

or something lame like that.

It is good you can laugh about it. It does make for a great blog post! I just wonder what would make someone say something like that?
