After sore muscles and a lot of accomplishments with the hoop I began surfing and found this very inspiring little video of a woman who uses the hoop for healing. It made my dried up tear ducts get a little damp.
What a beautiful hooper! I have to disagree with her comment "I'm not very graceful" because she quite evidently is. Her hand hooping in the middle of the video is sublime and her obvious love of hooping shines out of her every pore. There is no better hooper than one that can convey that amazing joy of wiggling around in what after all is a piece of plastic tubing.
Thanks for sharing Lissa Angeline video. I hadn't seen it before. What a gorgeous hooper!
Wow...love the hooping! And I thought I was wicked jumping on my minitramp in my underoos.
This is the first time I've come across your blog (not sure why)...absolutely fab. Looks like we were diagnosed around the same time at the same age...lucky us!
I started out in undergrad as a dance therapy major. Sitting in these long classes learning about the psyche seemed to me to be a ridiculous way to approach healing. I quit the program and majored in choreography instead. Locking myself in the dance studio for hours on end is one of the most healing way for me to deal with cancer. Screw therapy. Give me a nice sprung wood floor instead.
Oh, this was AMAZING. I loved the song, her moves, and the accompanying story. Trying out your hoop yesterday made me realize that I CAN use a hoop! Just not the little kiddo ones. Let me get my hands on one and we'll make hooping dates as often as possible.
Wow. Um. Hi! I am that hooper! I can't believe the amazing response I've had to this video. It's been incredible. I'm just stunned that I have been able to reach out and touch people. So many people! The more awareness I can bring to depression and hooping as a means to cope, the better.
And I adore everyone who ignores the fact that I whacked myself in the head. :p

Agreed. I'm ready to come out of my academic shell and move my body. Funny though, I hadn't thought of it as dance but I guess I am dancing!
