Sadness

Tomorrow we are attending a memorial service for my 18yr old's childhood friend. He was in a car accident in our hometown where he was a passenger. He was the only one without a seat belt and he was the only one who died. We are so sad right now.

My post may not be overly coherent because my brain seems to be in a daze.

I don't have words for the this.

On Wednesday my 15 year old went for a snowboarding trip with 4 friends and were being driven by a parent. They were about an hour into the drive when the road was suddenly covered in snow. A car went off the road and then they slipped and rolled over at high speed. The car launched and rolled in the air eventually landing off the road on their side. They were hanging from their seat belts for a moment before they got out of the car. The car was totaled but all the passengers were fine. My son had torn pants and glass from the windows in his pockets. It's unbelievable he's alive and well. He does have some whiplash but I'm hoping he will heal quickly.

If they hadn't been wearing their seat belts, they wouldn't be here right now.

Over and over again I'm reminded that life is so fragile.

Oh my god! That is so sad. I'm glad to hear your son is ok. I wish him a speedy recovery. No words can adequately express how sad the loss of your friend is.

Life is indeed fragile.

So sorry you, your son, and this boys family and friends have to go through this. It is a tragedy...and it's awful to see young ones have to deal with death...particularly i imagine the driver of the car...sadly most of us with children have been through this...seen our children grieving the loss of a friend...it's so hard...

I'm so sorry to hear about the accident. I remind my children all of the time to buckle up, which is sometimes met with an eye roll.

I'm happy to hear that your son was not hurt too badly.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello my friend. I'm sure you're having a tough time this week. I'm so sorry about your son's friend, but I'm very relieved to hear that he is okay. Give him a giant hug and buy him a pony... okay, just a hug will suffice.

Call if you need anything, I'm always here for ya.

XO

I'm so sorry. To lose a child is a tragedy. I'm so grateful that you didn't lose yours but am very sad for the family that did.

Hugs.
